About us
Our Story
The PCFB’s mission began well before its official incorporation in 1996. It started in a Pinedale neighborhood, where residents collected food and clothing to help neighbors in need. As community needs grew, organizers launched yard sales to raise funds for families facing hard times.
Growing community support soon allowed the initiative to move beyond a single pantry and garage. It relocated into the front section of a large shop building previously occupied by the county assessor’s storage. Over time, the organization's founders transitioned from annual yard sales to operating a permanent thrift store in the large shop building. The thrift store’s profits have provided steady funding to supply food for struggling families for the organization.
As funds and support continued to grow, the organization expanded its solutions to community problems. Today, it helps the community tackle hunger while also providing emergency financial support, school supplies, and workforce development. Furthermore, it reduces waste by reselling used goods, keeping valuable items out of local landfills.
The PCFB promotes fiscal resilience through thrift store sales, private individual donations, and grant funding. When hardships arise, the PCFB reaches out to others for support, just as neighbors do in a tight-knit community. The PCFB remains a 100% grassroots organization with a proven track record of meeting community needs.
